Manufacturing Tools for Multi-Day Storage
Form Energy builds iron-air batteries that store energy for 100 hours at a time. We helped the company advance its goal of creating more consistent, user-friendly tools for the energy storage scientists and manufacturing teams behind each new cell design.
Working directly with the client’s Senior Product Manager, we led one-to-one Jobs to Be Done sessions with key scientists and manufacturing managers, then translated their needs into clearer workflows and interface designs.
We designed six detailed screens covering configuration tracking, build configuration details, test specifications and metadata, experiment-owner requests, eBOM review, and eBOM mapping. These research-informed designs and prototypes gave the client a concrete foundation for planning a web-based workflow beyond Google Sheets, including support for permissions and connections with PLM and ERP systems.
Our engagement covered the discovery and design phase, ahead of software development. The deliverables were designs and prototypes to guide the product’s development, not shipped software.
Process

Wireframes and prototypes: Wireframes and interactive Figma prototypes exploring more intuitive web application workflows tailored to technical users.
Data-heavy screen design: Screens built around scannable status information and clear access to configuration and component details.
Design system and final UI: Consistent interface patterns and final UI designs supporting a more uniform experience across the client’s platforms.
